Join us for the 9th annual Etymology!™ conference with Douglas Harper, online hopefully just one more time, March 19~20~21, 2021. We are again offering a 1, 2, or 3-day conference. Friday the 19th will cover Etymology Basics for those new to the study, or those who prefer a review to start out. Saturday and Sunday are the core of the conference, examining the effects on the English language of pandemics and plagues, past and present.

Description

Since we all spend far too much time online these days, each day will begin with a short video welcome or activity that you can watch at your leisure. We’ll meet in real time at 9:00am Pacific for a morning session, then a midday session, and finally an afternoon session ending at 2:30pm Pacific, with breaks and word study activities in between.

Trusty old Zoom will be the site of our gathering for all three days! Choose your days: come Friday only, just for the basics; Saturday & Sunday for the core conference; or all three days. In addition, this year we will be providing a special option for a Medieval cooking class with a fantastic home chef, Amy Magnafichi-Strong, either Friday night or Saturday night, depending on interest. Participants will receive a shopping list and recipe ahead of time, with instructions from Amy over Zoom. Includes wine pairings!

Secure your spot with a fully refundable deposit. All registrations include video recordings of the conference, handouts, links, and additional resources. You may not attend from a phone, and recordings are only available to attendees.

Registrations canceled on or before 2/01/2021 are fully refundable. Registrations cancelled on or before 2/28/2021 are refundable less $50, and non-refundable thereafter. To complete your registration, you must pay the Deposit AND the Registration Balance.
